Nooooo Ponting is out, 4 runs short of his double-century.
I hope Gilchrist gives them some stick now!

If you had tickets for days 4 or 5, you'd be feeling a bit dirty at this stage. I reckon it'll all be over by lunch tomorrow, given the cracks that are opening up, and the accuracy of the Aussie attack.
My prediction: Australia to win by an innings and 234 runs.

They are going to struggle to avoid the follow-on.
I just want to see a genuine hard-fought sporting contest, which Australia eventually wins (of course)
A whitewash wouldn't really do much for the sport or the Ashes contest in particular. Look at what the excitment of last year did for cricket. IMO it's no good having a contest which is an out-and-out slaughter. Just my opinion

England all out for 157
McGrath bags 6 wickets
Says it all really.
Gonna be a tough Summer for the tourists and a great few months for the so-called "Dad's Army"

Hmm, it seems our ploy is working already; lulling the Aussies into a false sense of security. Well, what else can I say after that disappointing effort?

Australia going in - very shrewd move I recon.
Rest the bowlers for the remainder of the arvo, and at the same time show the poms how it's possible to play on the cracked wicket so there can be no whinging later!
Very smart.

not a bad call having a bat.
There is plenty of time and weather is fine for the next few days.

Yep. Very demoralising to watch the Aussie batsmen go in and rack up the runs on a track you've just struggled on

Sadly I think much of this series will be a walkover with the Aussies dominating. But I do hope for a tight series But an Aussie win

Nice little fightback from England to make the match a little interesting.
Pieterson and Collingwood with a 150-run partnership and England at 3/242.
Still a long way to go (some 400 runs or so to win) but good on 'em for showing a bit of ticker

and then that man Warne takes Collingwood's wicket for 96.
A thrilling knock, though
