M42 w/UHC-S

a single 2 min exposure to see the effects of the UHC-S filter.
ED 100 w/ 6.3 reducer. Canon 350D iso1600.
1. with filter
2. without

Hi Mick, i must admit i havent shot anything (only afocally) with my UHC yet, cause i guessed the filter might make the stars that peculiar green/blue color you see thru the EP.
At least the image without the UHC has the stars as natural light and presents a greater gas field.

yeah I like without.....but Mick your going to see the benifit with the UHC-S filter with much longer exposures.

2 minutes is too short to get the benifit of the filter.

Compare image's with and without on 5 -10 minute exposures.

Hi Mick

There is a contrast boost with the filter mate and I would say an increase in dynamic range . Like Tony mentioned, you will start seeing the benifit when you align & combine several images and you'll find It a lot easier to stretch with pleasing results .
Looks very promising Mick ! well done.

Mick,

Thanks for posting that. I'm yet to purchase any contrast enhancing or light pollution removing filters. Gives me an idea of what to expect with short exposures.

Regards,
Humayun
