Bintel GSO RC12-A f/8 Carbon Fibre Truss

Owing to various misfortunes with mounts (of which this forum is aware), I can no longer astronomy with this scope. It was fantastic while it lasted, held collimation beautifully, was sharp, bright, produced some great shots and was fast. Unfortunately because it's 24kg, I don't have the mount to wield it with the accuracy I want.

Rather than let it sit in my observatory un-used and going to waste, it deserves light and should be a great addition to any deep space enthusiast.

This was purchased from Bintel in May 2015 for their asking price. Was unpacked and placed with care in my observatory. It has been treated very well, has had the stock focuser removed and a moonlite plus adapter flange added. I also added a Kendrick secondary mirror dew heater. I purchase a Takahashi Collimating scope + machined adapter for the moonlite focuser, astrozap covers and shroud.

The scope was $4k back then:
  • I would like to ask $3k for it including the moonlite and accessories, picked up because shipping is not guaranteed under any circumstances, even insured (so it seems). If the buyer would like to organise a courier at their risk, I will not object. I have the original box and can package it (it's a little unclean but will do).
The collimation scope & Moonlite should go with the scope, so I will offer those to the scope purchaser first. but here's what I would be happy to talk about with a potential buyer:
  • The Takahashi was $270US plus shipping, I would like to ask $200AUS.
  • The moonlite and motor were about $600, I would like to ask $400AUS.
If I'm shooting above what I should be, please feel free to PM me.

Tak and moonlite in discussions

I've had offers for the Tak and queries for the moonlite.

Apologies for not getting back sooner. Work gets in the way sometimes.

I'll come back to you tonight on those.

If anyone wants to consider the scope, given the focuser and Tak will be taken off them, would $2500 for the scope be a reasonable offer?

Hi Vanssay,

No, sorry, I'm not going to ship this outside Australia.

I hope to hear from you either way.
Hi Rowan, I have two interested parties at the moment, one local. I would prefer a local sale. I will post if both parties decide to look elsewhere.
