Can ya believe this weather?

Well, it's about 10:15 pm, 30 deg. and 19 percent humidity! Just as well I've got 'air' in the house.

Oh, should mention that the sky is crap. Just like it's been for the last two weeks or so.

Yep - it's awful isn't it Mark? We're literally neighbours as Jenny and I live in St Helens Park (just up from Appin, just down from C'Town and just over the road from Ving!). Hot, humid and cloudy. Summer weather is just too unstable......

Well i'll be interested to hear the news tomorrow because at the moment here in Melbourne its 10.35 pm, about 35 deg and we have just been hit by a surge of the stronest winds i have felt for a long time.
I really thought a window or roof was going to pop off, many of the recycle wheelie bins have been blown over and the street is covered in papers and rubbish, then as quick as it came it is now as tame as a light breeze.
This weather is weird!

Here in England the past few days has been awful, strong to gale force winds, rain at night. I think past weeks ive had at least 2 clear skies..

Grrrrrrrrrr! Go awaaaaaaaaay nasty weather!

Awesome Mark. What a great scope. I used to travel with it everywhere and it needed constant collimation. Now it stays at home and I take the 8" Newt on the road instead. A much better arrangement.

Hmmm.. interesting. Given that Newts need collimation just about every session, I take it you found that the SCT procedure was particularly irksome.

Actually I've found my SkyWatcher 8" stays pretty tight. I lug it everywhere I go now and find that I've only ever needed to adjust it a couple of times so far, although I check it each session. The 12" SCT is easy enough to collimate quickly and easily to "good" performance, but is a little more tiresome to get "great".

To those of you in the uppper mountains: take care. Pack up your 'scopes and, if you have time, those sentimental things your wife might like to save. :-)

No, being somewhat more serious, to all of you in fire affected areas I pass the same sentiments. I'd be surprised if some of the IceInSpace clan were not members of the RFS, CFS and other states' volunteer organisations.

Hi John, I'm with the RFS down here, so I know what your going through up there. I hope all goes well for you.
At the moment we have hot strong N/W winds and low humidity so we are hoping everything stays quiet.

As far as observing goes, I haven't seen or imaged anything for nearly a month

.
Blooming clouds have put a stop to that

Thanks, Ric. I'm an ex-volunteer (comms, not firefront - well, not most of the time, but it does have its moments). My son is a DC in one of the local brigades but he also wears a hat for the local council which includes fire management; I don't know which one he's wearing at the moment.

Clear skies - takes on a whole new meaning, eh?

Turning to Walcha weather now.....NO MORE SNOW :-(
Its 32 Degrees C, sky is partly cloudy, quite opaque.....not much breeze....
Doubt i'd be seeing any comets tonight...

Hi Dujon,
boy did I ever jinx myself today when I said I hope it stays quiet.
I had no sooner walked in the door when the phone rang and we had a major incident at Lake George with the Federal Highway being closed as well. Basically it was running up the side of of a very steep ridge that faces right onto the highway, so it was a case of containment and let the fire burn itself out.
I've just got back in after a busy night, so something to eat, a shower and a glass of red and then a bit of sleep.
