Water found on Mars (lots of it...)

Massive ice deposits found on Mars. 16/03/2007. ABC News Online

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...3/s1873156.htm

Scientists say they have found huge deposits of ice on the south pole of Mars that are so plentiful they would blanket the planet in 11 metres of water if they were liquid

Interesting but I feel there is room for more evidence to support the findings . like a bucket of the stuff maybe .. so much of this goes hand in hand with the belief that life will be found .. still it sounds promising or the researchers have really stuck their necks out.

"a whole planet flooded....unheard of!!!"

There has been speculation that it has happened here in the past and speculation that it could happen in the future (Water World the movie).
Still I hope there is as it fits the colonization plans .... or bottled Mars water .. when you hear the cost of desalinator plants it may be cheaper to get it from Mars .... if the findings prove correct (and to prove them correct we need a mission carrying a bucket) that leaves Earth a little less unique I guess.
