Lunar Graze of ZC 3325 -28th November

G'day,

We* are seeking help to observe the Lunar Graze of ZC 3325 (aka SAO 146230) on the 28th November.

The event occurrs "around" 10:40UT (9:40pm summer time) on the evening of Tuesday 28 November and the path of the southern lunar limb shadow will sweep through East Melbourne, Canberra, Western Sydney and The Central Coast.

Steve has an infomative web page page, here...
http://ias.ozastro.org/2006Nov28graze.htm
and I have created an interactive google map, here...
http://users.tpg.com.au/users/daveg/...28_zc3325.html

At the mo, we are forming into 3 teams as detailed on Steve's page. However we know of nobody covering the Melbourne end (hint hint).

We invite interested observers to come along and join in. Please let one of the team leaders know if you are interested as we need to plan sites
carefully.

Site details and meeting places TBA...

Regards

*Dave, Dave, Dave and Steve*

Dave I and a friend are starting an occultation partnership in Queensland, we live about 90kms apart.
We have had no luck so far due either to weather or no suitable occultation has come along.
Do you have a conversion catalogue from ZC to SAO or other catalogues, or a site that I can obtain it from?
I receive the monthly list from the RASNZ astroron

Lunar Graze of ZC 3325 -28th November

The ZC cattledog is a pain as most (all?) planetarium programs don't know it. Once-upon-a-time I had a spreadsheet that crossreferenced ZC, SAO, HIP, HD, XZ, TYC and a few others BUT I can't find it now. I'll keep looking. If I find it, I'll let you know.

In the meantime, if you don't have it already, I'd suggest you download and install winOccult by Dave Herald...
http://www.lunar-occultations.com/iota/occult3.htm

There is heaps to download in addition to the program itself, over 100Mb! But IMHO "it's a MUST HAVE".

It will handle any cattledog you care to mention. You can run your own predictions for your site or 100 sites and heaps of other stuff tailored for the occultation observer as DaveH is himself.

And one of Occult3's features is a cross reference tool for these stars.

Cheers

Sometimes I think I should change my name when I hang around with these guys. I've got the last two letters right.

So come on guys, anyone want to join in from West Gippsland or the NSW central coast?

Steve (the closet Dave)

I'm on the central coast, if the weather is clear I'll give it a go! Remind me next Monday or Tuesday by replying here

My daughter Abbey is going into hospital on the Wednesday to get her tonsils out, so I'm not sure how much time i'll have but i'll try.

This event requires some planning; it's not just a do it from your backyard thing (unless you are very lucky). The path is around 2-3Km wide.

Let me know if you're interested in the details, and DaveG and I will help you with the planning. Even better, get a few more observers together and make an expedition out of it.

Steve.

Just a reminder for the Lunar Graze of
ZC3325 = SAO 146230 on Tuesday next, 28th November.

For Sydney Observers I have created a flyer...
http://tinyurl.com/up2vg

...that shows maps of the site showing the meeting place, time and contact details.

SteveR has a more comprehensive page at...
http://ias.ozastro.org/2006Nov28graze.htm
