Knob removal

Hi all,
Can anyone let me know if there's a trick to removing the large, course focusing knob on my 3" Feathertouch?
I've loosened the 1/16th grub screw in the picture, but it's not budging one bit.
Any tips would be appreciated!
Chris

Chris, I am not familiar with these focuses, but in many situations like this there are in fact two grub screws involved. The inner one locks onto the pinion and the outer one is designed to lock the inner one in place.
Have you tried removing the one you can see completely? It will then be obvious if there is a second one below it.
Worth a look.

Steve

I agree with Steve, there is usually two screws holding the focuser knob in place.

Hmm there's definitely only one grub screw I can see, and same with the other 2 knobs. Those slip off really easy, it's just this single large one I'm having problems with.

Well, I would try heating the knob, hoping that the slight differential expansion frees the joint. Heat the knob by immersing it in hot water whilst holding all of the rest of the focuset above the water.
If this is not successfull, I would be sending off an email to the Feathertouch service team.
Steve.

I think you might find that there are two grub screws, and to get the black knob off you have to remove the large and reducer knobs from the other end and then the whole shaft will slide out exposing the other grub screw.......

It has been a long time since I dismantled one and I am getting older by the minute so my memory could also be playing tricks on me....

Thanks for the suggestions people. I managed to get the knob off, but I have a feeling Starlight never intended it to do so. Only the one grub screw, but it was also held in place with glue.
