Sunspot 923 – warning, you are being stalked…..

Hi,

After missing the 14th, 15th and 16th due to clouds and ferocious winds, I managed to get out again today to see what this fella was up to. Well, it was a tough assignment today, with poor seeing. But, after the heroic efforts of Registax, from some 18,000 frames, I managed to find one that I could add to the previous 3.

Sunspot 923 on 11th, 12th, 13th & 17th November 2006 captured using a Celestron C9.25 with full aperture Baader AstroSolar Photo Film D=3.8, Vixen x2 Barlow, Philips ToUcam 840K, Baader UV/IR cut filter. Not to mention the blood, sweat and tears!

Each image is a single frame from the avi of that day as acquired in K3CCDTools. Each image is the raw, unprocessed frame from the avi. The best frame was selected using Registax 4 and then VirtualDub was used to copy/paste each image into Corel PhotoPaint. Final image resampled down to meet the file size limits.

Cheers

Dennis

Very Nice Dennis, hard to imagine the scale of these as they look just like some sort of melanoma....

Just imagine how many more frames you'd have to play with when you're reeling them in at 30 or 60fps on a DMK

Excellent work Dennis!

I see the spot hasn't fully split, but gee I'm impressed with the PST - I can see that protruberance of the penumbra into the umbra.
