M42, My first PI process

Having been using Iris for for my processing since day dot (albeit with a 10 year gap!) I came to the conclusion that I needed all the help I could get, so have been giving PI a go with the limited data I have been able get over the last few weeks (reads 'one night'). Perth has been dreadful for good imaging nights if you have to get up for work at 5am. Also been suffering for binding worms after a belt mod and an over excited worm adjustment.

So far very please with what PI can achieve with not a lot of good data. This M42 (ol' faithful) is from 14 subs of 180 @ 800iso, good darks, flats and flat darks.

Happy with the result, but very welcoming of some tips and tricks to use with PI to improve. I hope to gather a few more hours of data, including some OIII that I can use to build on this one. Particularly interested in ideas on the best way of combining different iso/length subs during processing and integration with PI.

The images are the Iris result and the PI result.

Can you share details of the equipment used?

Best

Thanks JA. Low budget setup for me so far. 1100D unmodded in a cold box, 80mm star bloater, home brew guide scope on a belt modded Orion Sirius pier mounted. APT, PHD2, CdC and EQMOD do all the hard stuff. I've incorporated just about every mod I could manage off the forum to keep things interesting, the dew heater, cold box and auto focuser are all products of the DIY threads.

Both good results, but that second image is fantastic, and I'd love to see a hi-res version.
Nice setup too :-)
