Rosette Nebula in Ha

The Rosette Nebula is a difficult target from my location and I have not attempted it before; a combination of relatively low altitude, being right on the Moon path, and trees affecting the track past the meridian, has limited my window for capture. This image consists of 18x300" Ha subs taken with the ASI1600MM-C, through a TS Photoline 115mm f7 APO. Field flattener was used but I am not happy with the star shapes, other than that its ok. Good to see the structures. Perhaps if I stuck on the reducer (to f5.5) I could have it all in the frame, but it's a large object and I don't mind it as shown, slopping out of the frame abit.

Even without all the obstacles this would be a good return on your time, but with them? It's brilliant.

That's an extremely good Ha. Very detailed and sharp. I am really impressed by the images you and Ray are putting out with that ASI camera. The images have a clarity and detail which is uncommon. Short expsures are cutting through the seeing a lot plus less tracking error plus low read noise. A good formula.

Besides the star shapes (which are almost in the same direction as my astigmatism), the detail is lovely! I kinda have the same problem as you Glen, my imaging window of the Rosette is probably between it rising above the garden shed/car port and before hitting trees. Can a chainsaw "accidentally" fall on some ranches?
If you can get some OIII the Rosette makes a really nice bi-colour.

Thanks everyone for your remarks, and i don't see myself in Ray's league but put it down to the camera's capabilities rather then mine.

I will try to get some Oiii when the moon permits. Sadly, even though i have a chainsaw, the offending tree tops are in my neighbor's yard.
