Lagoon M8

Wed, Oct 26. Single exposure pic of the Lagoon nebula M8. Taken thru a 10" LX600 on alt az mount with a Canon 1200d mod camera 30 sec x 6400 iso. Not the best part of the sky for me as it overlooks town lights. Thanks for viewing.

Maybe a touch out of focus, but some good colour in there and lots of Ha showing up for a 30 second image.

I always wondered how the 1200D was for astro.

Curious as to why you took one sub @ISO 6400, when even three or four
subs @ ISO 1600 would have produced a much less noisy image.

Lagoon M8

Hi Raymo,
I took one single exposure because that was my aim - I was showing what you can get with a single exposure. Cheers, John W.

Fair enough, I have done the same thing myself, but in winter when the
low ambient temps give a much less noisy result.
