The Helix NGC7293 First image from Fleur de Lis observatory

Hi all, my first image from my new observatory at my new home.

20hrs Ha (20min subs), 20hrs OIII (30min subs) taken over the last month.

I think my data is pretty good it is my processing skills in PI that limit me. I used a couple of processes for the first time I think including MultiLinearTransform and HDRMultiTransform. Any tips on improving the image appreciated. I don't think I have the 3d effect looking into the centre I have seen on some other images from greats like RickS but overall I am pleased how the obs has turned out and shown it can produce some reasonable stuff.

Cheers
Brett

Man a lot of exposure there Brett well done, having an observatory helps there huh? ...although I have an observatory but I simply don't have the patience to do 40hrs on an object, Mr Lazy .

I think it looks pretty good with the outer shock fronts starting to show nicely, the trick is getting the OIII spokes (which you have showcased nicely there) to show as well as the famous inner Ha globulated smoke columns and detail in the main ring, this is very tricky to pull off and very few have managed it.

Nice work

Mike

Nice work and congrats on the new obsy, Brett! You've brought out the structure of the Oiii spokes really nicely and the Ha is deep. Just keep banging away with PI and it will all make sense eventually

Cheers,
Rick.

An impactful image Brett. The background though is a bit black clipped.

Thanks for the feedback, I am happy how the obs has turned out, fair bit of work and cost but worth it I think. Got 3 clear nights in a row last week, I think that was a record!
