Kennedy Space Centre Visitors Centre

Has anyone been there? I'm planning a trip next year and thought I might put this on my list. Are there any particular exhibits etc that are a must-see or must-do?

If you're of that age group, it's well worth doing. We did the Cape Canaveral tour as well as the standard one and are really glad we did. We stayed in a hotel in Titusville that seemed unchanged from the Apollo era, complete with receptionist hairstyle.

Kennedy

I went there a few years ago and it was well worth it. We hired a car from St Petersburg and self drove. I remember the control centre and the Apollo boosters well. It's an impressive place with a good imax cinema.
Fond memories which came back after the movie Apollo 13!

We went there in 2014. Did a viator tour from Orlando. They have a real space shuttle on show, complete with re-entry burn marks and the original control consoles used in the Lunar Landings. You can see it all in a day.

If you plan to get to Washington, the Smithsonian has 2 parts. One down town and one at the airport for the huge exhibits. The one down town has the Wright Flyer and mercury capsules for example, the one at the airport has large aircraft. We didn't realise this and missed out on the airport one.

Agreed, it is well worth the trip. The rocket garden alone is impressive...

We were there in Jan 2013 on what woukd have to have been the coldest day in winter, about 3deg in the wind.

But so worth it.

We were lucky enough to get to tour the assembly hangar before it was leased to SpaceX. To hear about the ballet dancing of the space shuttle inside that thing first hand from a crane driver, 20cm of error margin, not one scrape.
