DSLR nightscapes

Hi there,
I'm looking for some advice.
I've had some experience with Image Source webcam and now want to get a DSLR for unguided nightscapes (short exposures) and general use camera.
Now I understand the Canon EOS 550d & 600d or 1100d are discussed as good cameras for AP and I may want to mod the camera for Ha removing the IR cut.
And maybe Video crop mode.

So what models should I be looking at in and around entry & enthusiast level?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Stuart,
I use a 550d (unmod) and an 1100d (modded) and both work fine. If taking nightscape photos you will need a wide angle lens (say 15 or 18mm).
Also a remote switch and tripod. Be prepared to experiment with exposures.
A good ebook is "Shooting stars" by Phil Hart (just google it).
Cheers, John W.

ANY camera can be used for nightscape photography. No matter what YOU still have to understand how to use it and how to process the photos. Buying a camera does not make you a photographer, just like buying a Porsche won't make you a good driver.
