sun in Ha ASI 120mm P.S.T.

My first attempt at solar imaging with my new asi120mm camera through my P.S.T. taken on 11.9.2016. I had to merge pictures with processing cos i cant quite fit the whole disc on the sensor. So nice to catch a bit of sun again though. Been bloody cloudy at all the wrong times here in Geelong for too long!
The blue sun is same image with colors inverted.
Anyone know if its common in pst's to have a brighter patch like in my pictures? or suggestions to overcome it?
thanks for looking.

Leigh

That is a great start with the asi120. Yes the hot spots are pretty standard with PST especially if you crank up the gama on the camera.

The way to manage the problem is to create a flat field, either manually or artificially. Several cling film wrap layers over the aperture should give you a starting point to create a flat that can be applied in your stacking software.

Very nice Leigh!
How did you go about achieving focus with the ASI120? I've struggled with my PST.

Thanks for the tips Ted!. Will be keen to try them out when the sun shines again.

Colin, I took the screw on nose piece off and just held the camera against the draw tube with a few elastic bands. From the look of my lop sided illumination, I need to take a bit more care with positioning it. Have to laugh because it does look a bit dodgy!

Oh right haha
I know that a QHY5L-II comes into focus, the whole camera fits nicely into the 1.25" barrel so it can get closer.
