M17 bicolour

G'day all

This is my attempt at m17 in bi colour.

This is the first thing I have processed in PI. Final 5% was touched up in Photoshop.

I'm just starting to climb the very steep learning curve that is PI but have now got the bug.

This was very difficult for me to process for some reason, the background and RGB stars are not quite right. Would appreciate any comments.

Hi res - https://www.astrobin.com/254662/

Cheers, George

I reckon the data is superb but you can get a much better processing if you spread the dynamic range a little more. The core seems a bit burnt out and the dark stuff too faint. I suspect it's a diamond in the rough still. Looking forward to a repro.

I do agree with Marc but in defence, you have probably shown it in its more natural look as the core is considerably brighter than the rest of the nebula

It is some nice looking data though

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I noticed about half way through the processing that I started to lose the core. I will try again with a little more protection during the stretching.

I am amazed at the power of pixinsight.

Looks good, George, except for hitting a brick wall at the right of the histogram!
