Bird Landing

There were 8 roos at the end of our street this morning and 4 frogmouths in our big tree.

My wife took the image below yesterday, we had a flock of them.

Sounds like a lovely, beautiful and natural environment you live in Glen. Great photo of what I originally thought was a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo too! But, it looks like some other bird? A Corella?

Cheers

Hi Dennis, it's a Bare-Eyed Corella Cacatua pastinator (Gould)

Hope that answers it for you.

Nahh, I was expecting the full taxonomic description in both Latin, Greek and Swahili! It'll do though!

Thanks!

And in Swahili, it would be Kasuku nyeupe na macho buluu, bila nywele, or in English, "a white parrot with blue bald eyes"

Regards,

Mike

Very nice shot indeed. You can actually feel it landing.

Astounding camouflage - especially when they also "branch" to look like part of the tree.

Cheers
