Milky Way at 24mm

This has nothing on Ozstronomer's current fantastic field at 35mm but it is a fraction larger

Taken with my Nikon D700 and a 24-120 F/4 lens. I really want to get a nice wide field prime lens as the abberations from this one aren't great(check the star at the top right corner) [fantastic day to day lens though which is what it is used for]. I had plans of getting an 30-60 minutes of data but clouds came out and started effecting from the next frame onwards

So, this is a single 120s ISO1600 @F/4. Needs flats but I was too lazy considering only a single frame. Looking forward to heading up to my dark site for some fun clear skies and wide field fun

A beautiful image, Colin. The aberration you refer to is not all that intrusive and does not detract from the superb detail. Well done.
