Diving into the Lagoon

All too appropriate for this weekend in Sydney, it's a coincidence, honest! My other project has been monitoring the sheer volume of rain falling from the sky here in Loftus - I think we've passed 300mm rain now in 48 hours, and I'm glad I live on the top of a hill.

Anyways, here's my Lagoon, taken in transparent conditions last week (such a distant memory), though seeing was imperfect, and I had some focus issues that cost me quite a few frames. I'm pretty happy with the smoothness of this one, though it would be nice to add a few more at some stage.

27 x 5 minutes, EOS 60D, 200mm f/5 Newtonian.

100% view of the central area
Larger view of the full frame.

Nice resolution, Andy. The Hourglass is quite detailed.

One of my work colleagues claims 450mm rain at Springbrook! Hope your weather settles down soon. The rain has gone up here. Just wind left now.

Cheers,
Rick.

Turned out pretty good Andy, the area Is nicely resolved and you've done well to not completely blow out the core

ha ha yes, it's no narrowband or h-alpha show-off And the saturation isn't quite up to Sidonio standards, glad there was something there for ya though

Yeah there was! Seeing not withstanding, if you can get the focus right and juuuust a bit more colour (doesn't need to be a Van Gough ) it would be smashing
