Apollo 15 landing site

Another of my AVI's from a wind shaken session, but result were quite nice so thought I would share, apart from still some issues with some alignment planels (this is the area that Registax 4 had trouble aligning due to wind vibration).

250 frames and 8 alignment points.

A small section was blown up to 300% and compared to a landing site image from Apollo. At this stage seem to be getting a resolution of between 500-1000 meters which is not bad considering the seeing was not 100% perfect and we are looking all the way to the moon!

Top work John!!!!!

The comparison shot is great. Gives the image more reality knowing someone stood right there!!!

Hi John

That is a fantastic image of an area so rich in lunar history. Thanks for posting the comparison images too, “John” vs “Apollo”! As Ken so rightly wrote, it enhances the viewer experience, to be able to see this living history.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks guys, as some people have said this is a great area of the moon and one of my favourites.
Attached is a map of the EVA's for Apollo 15 and if you look close enough to the 300% resize you will see one of the craters visited by the astronauts called Elbow on their first EVA.
Quite amazing that we can view this area now 35 years later!

Excellent work John, you're getting better and better every time you go out.

I can't wait to see the stuff you're producing on a night of great seeing. Excellent resolution and detail.

Hi John, Those are excellent images and comparisons.
It's great to see the spot and follow the map of where human beings once walked on another world, it makes it all that more fascinating.

cheers
