Sunspot 2529 – 10th April 2016, Brisbane

As sunspot 2529 continues in its march across the solar disc, I managed to grab another recording sequence early in the morning (8:30am) as soon as the solar disc cleared the trees and before the seeing conditions deteriorated.

This season, whenever I have managed to set up, the seeing has tended to be reasonable up to 9:00am and then it seems to go off the boil. In previous years, I found that between 10:00am and 11:30am tended to produce better seeing.

The atmosphere was less stable than yesterday but the ZWO ASI174MM CMOS camera and the pc applications FireCapture (camera control), Autostakkert2! (aligning & stacking) and Registax6 (Wavelets) once more came to my rescue and turned a sows ear into a bit of a silk purse.

Hardware:
Tak Mewlon 180, Tak 1x6 Extender, ASI174MM CMOS Camera, Baader Astro solar film (photo version).

Software:
FireCapture camera control application, Autostakkert2! aligning & stacking application and Registax6 Wavelets to tease out those finer details.

Cheers

Dennis

White lights offers finer spot detail than HAlpha Etalon scopes, just love the granulation on the surface.
