Gabriela in SHO

I struggled with this one and ultimately decided not to put any more data into it. Not happy with the colour, but can't seem to find a palette / processing that looks really nice with this one.

Full res available on Astrobin.

Very nice image Lee, it is great to see you are being more productive these days, please keep them coming!

Sometimes when I get stuck, I leave the project for a day or two, and then create a new version with different palette and with less/more aggressive processing, and then blend the two (or even three versions) in different ratios - sometimes it works!

nice and smooth Lee, reckon you've got plenty of room to play around with it if you decide to again. still a nice rendition, smooth and the blue is nice.

Lee that's an absolute cracker.
Those esprit scopes seem to be worth the coin!.
What are the focusers on them like?

Looking good so far Lee. Give it another half a dozen reworks and then you'll be happy

Very cool. I'm not sure I've ever seen this object before. I immediately see a big blue gas baloon head floating through space. I cannot find the Simple Harmonic Oscillator though.

Super shot Lee. You're churning some really high quality pics lately. I find this one has stars a little muted but that's probably my pre-coffee morning eyes talking. Very smooth yet detailed.

SHO Gabriela

Lee, I like this palette. It gives it a 3D effect. Good work

The SII in particular has come out very well: Nice sharp shock-front delineating Gabriela's face, and lots of billowing hair in SII at the back.

This is a good one Lee. However, if you fell you need to make it better just keep on experimenting. Many times I've struggled with an image and then suddenly it clicks into something much better than the previous attempts.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the feedback. I didn't spend as much effort as I normally would fixing this one up because I wasn't happy with the colour. I did play around with it and leave it a few days, which is definitely good advice, but still, not really feeling it. I need to level up my colour game.

I used noise reduction, which I never normally do, and didn't do a very good job of it, which explains overall softness. Didn't bother with deconvolution either.

I've seen some really nice rendition of this with some brilliant orange colouration, and even when I tried to *******ize the hubble palette, I just couldn't bring that out.

Cheers mate. The focuser on mine was very poorly adjusted and had its locking lever fall off shortly after I bought it. I sold it to another IISer who apparently spent a great deal of effort getting it to work well, but ultimately managed to.

I don't think the focusers are inherently bad, I just think QA is terrible. It's also possible that they all ship like that and are consistently poorly adjusted, but able to be fixed with some effort, I'm not sure.

Cheers mate. Stars might be muted because of the poor job of noise reduction I did, or because I sucked out a lot of magenta which came from the SHO palette. Depends on whether you meant chrominance or luminance in terms of them being muted?
