Price Drop: 10" LX200 GPS ACF

After many years of faithful service I have reluctantly decided to part with my LX200
http://www.bintel.com.au/Telescopes/...oductview.aspx

It has been my main visual instrument for the better part of the last decade. Bought it from Bintel in Melbourne some 6 years ago, only issue I have had in that time was my own stupid fault. Bought a 12V power cord with multiple sized plugs, I think I accidentally put the head part in the wrong way and reversed the polarity. When I turned on the scope it made a fizzle and pop. Then it was back to Bintel for a new motherboard, worked a treat ever since That was probably 4-5 years ago now so it is in wonderful working order.

I have even used this telescope and my DSLR to conduct scientific research, working out the distance to various globular clusters within the Milky Way buy studying a specific class of short person Cepheid Variables known as RR Lyrae Variables. I was reasonably surprised at how well a DSLR did the job considering that it doesn't have anything resembling a V band filter. Being able to do this with 10s exposures due to it being an Alt/Az mount is a testament to its light grasp

Telescope includes:
~ LX200 which has a couple of external scuff marks but nothing serious, no dents or anything to that effect. Optics are in good condition, primary mirror is nice and clean (buggered if I know how some get dirty primaries in a virtually enclosed system!).
~ Tripod which has scuff marks on the top plate but otherwise in great condition.
~ Hand Controller which from memory has a few very minor scuffs, mostly from being in a bag with other telescope stuff where it can move about.
~ Meade 1.25" Diagonal which appears to be in pretty shocking condition, externally it is all scratched and faded from being knocked around in my carry bag. The mirror looks fine being protected but it was never a great diagonal anyway.
~ Bintel 2" Dielectric Diagonal in brand new condition.
http://www.bintel.com.au/Accessories...oductview.aspx
~ 26mm Meade Series 4000 EP in good condition
~ Antares 0.63x Focal Reducer (for ACF models)
~ Counterbalance weight shaft (mounted onto the underside of the tube) and three weights.
~ 10" Kendrick premier heater strap.
~ 12V fan to fight dew, something I knocked up a number of years ago, clips onto the front of the scope and blows air across the front corrector plate. I tried to find DIY ways of fighting dew without resorting to a large dew shield Actually worked pretty well.
~ A finderscope that has probably been used twice. Actually thought I'd lost it until recently!
~ A SCT threaded 1.25" holder with nut (original) & 2" SCT thread with brass compression ring.
~ Meade Autostar Software Suite CDs.

The only "broken" part of this system, if I can call it broken, is the telescope dust cap. It'll stay on most of the time as long as the telescope doesn't get moved much which its on It doesn't have a very snug fit and I have been reluctant to start bashing it with a hammer to reshape it

The only original box I have for any of this is the Bintel diagonal because that is what it lives in. Would prefer pickup as everything altogether weights a good 60kg. Pictures to follow, probably tomorrow.

Looking for $2,800 for the lot, pickup/dropoff/meeting halfway can be organised.

Been super busy but finally managed to collect everything together and get some photos.

The first two images show the external damage on the scope (what I could easily find without doing a thorough search for smaller knocks).
The first shows a small circular mark probably about 1mm deep, no idea what caused it.
The second is what looks more like paint than scratches but it doesn't come off so scratches it must be

Dropped to $3,000
Plus, was recently looking back at some of the first images I took with this telescope, it's only 6 years old as I bought it in about Jan 2010.

First was with my iPhone 3GS and the other was with my Nikon D700.

Bump

Also, going through the garage recently I found the foam inserts. I don't have the box itself anymore as it was used for containing chicks and was soiled beyond use many years ago, it can be foamed
