Jupiter Double Shadow Transit Animation

This is a video animation of about 5 hours of Jupiter rotating with its moons Io and Europa transiting along with their shadows.

http://www.astropix.com/Jupiter_Doub...sit_Video.html

Click on the link for the video and more information on how it was shot and processed.

This animation was made from 91 video sequences, each containing 3,600 individual frames recorded in continuous 3-minute periods. A total of 327,600 individual JPEG frames were recorded, comprising about 30GB of data.

Four hours and fifty minutes of images were recorded to produce the 18 seconds of video seen here.

This was shot with just a 5-inch refractor, and the seeing was average to start but deteriorated significantly as the night went on.

that is awesome work Jerry!
Must have taken you AGES to process all that - but definitely worth it, quite nice seeing and really great result!

Cheers

Thanks guys for your kind words and for taking a look.

It was a bit of work, but I wish I had a bigger scope and better seeing for it!
