First DSO image

Hi guys, this is a couple of attempts at processing my first DSO. NGC 2070 Tarantula Nebula, it is 5 x 3 min subs of LRGB taken with G2 2000 and GSO RC8. I know my guiding is rotten atm but I wanted to see what I could produce. All feedback, good or bad, will help me to improve

Cheers Shane

Thanks Rick, the colour isnt quite right in my opinion but I'll get there eventually. It's only a LOT of practice from here on in.

Nice job. If you know that your guiding is not the best yet, why not do
2 mins instead of 3, and have round stars, and therefor an even better
result?

From the point of view of someone who doesn't do the whole guided exposure thing (one day, but not today), I think these are a fantastic start. Go you! :-)

It is a nice closeup of NGC 2070. As raymo says, dropping the exposure time until you get your guiding sorted will give rounder stars and better detail but just won't be as deep with the fainter nebulosity.

Looking at it on my phone isn't the best but it looks like you could up the saturation a bit further, also helps a bit with getting the right colour balance, even the colours really stand out

Great first shot though, 100x better than my first attempt on this region with 100x6s exposures on an alt-az mount

Thanks for the feedback everyone. When I get time I'll have another go at processing the data and repost.

Cheers

The colour is looking better in the newer one but the lighter areas look better handled in the second (?) one. Usually takes a good number of revisions before you're happy. From listening to others, I think that is the general consensus regardless of how long you have been in the game

I'd say the upper atmosphere was a bit icy too.
Got a sort of foggy appearance.
Like the depth you have achieved.
I'm not crash hot at processing, so I can't offer any tips.
