The mind boggles

Seriously can you believe this. The gun law thing in the USA really is a joke.

An unrestrained 4 yo and an unrestrained handgun in a car, bad mum. Some people shouldn't have kids or guns.

What's even worse is that earlier today I saw on the news that police are not looking at charging her with any offence. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!.

i for one think that if every 4 year old had a loaded gun with no safety on, there would be no crime at all! we need every kindergarten to rally in support of their constitutional right to bear arms! FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

Happy to hear she was not killed. She's just not that bright, that's all.

Something odd here. If it was a 1911 then there is no way a 4 year old could have got his fingers around the grip (the safety is actually the rear of the grip and needs to be squeezed). Also, these are single action semis and need to be cocked first. Anyone dumb enough to leave a loaded 1911 lying around with the hammer back is asking for it.
its almost a shame the existence of the child makes her ineligible for a Darwin Award.

She taught the child how to fire a gun, but I think she forgot the mandatory safety lecture.
One of the first rules is to not have a round in the chamber until you are ready to shoot, to prevent an acidental discharge.

That's all well and good in theory, but you try and tell that to my boys!

My 1911a1 had a stiff spring because of the muzzle deflector taking up space that the spring usually took.
But even an ordinary 1911 was too stiff for most women to cock never mind a child.
Which means the hammer was already back with a round in the chamber. Normally known as attempted suicide.

The kid was FOUR! At that age, they have no conceptual framework to understand what a gun is and what it can do. That imbecile mother needs to do hard time for even contemplating letting a kid have access to a gun. So many stupid people in that country...

I wonder what are the stats are for "unloaded gun" accidental deaths and injuries.

I wonder what mum is saying on face book.
Often folk blame everyone but themselves I bet she blames the democrates .....

Definitely a low caliber mum.

And why didn't they charge the kid for not wearing his seat belt.

This is the kind of thing that ruins it for the rest of us, and gives ammunition (excuse the pun) to those who have a chip on their shoulder and want to disarm everybody.

Disgraceful.

I think that the biggest problem with the USA is that many people carry weapons for self defence, and an unloaded gun is not usefull in a self defence situation.
In comparison Australians are only allowed to have guns for recreational purposes and it is illegal to posses any weapon for self defence, so guns and ammunition have to be stored and transported in separate containers and locked up when not in use.
This is really bad parenting, I mean seriously how could you forget that you left the 45 on the backseat?
