I have managed to get EQMOD working OK with Cartes duCeil
Issue I am having is that on a semi regular basis, the EQMOD simply freezes with the result that cartes will not work and if the scope is slewing, it keeps on slewing until I can get EQMOd to shut down.
I am using:
Orion Atlas EQAZ mount
PHD 2 guiding with a Starshoot Autoguider pro.
W10 laptop
Connnection for the EQMOD is via a Shoestring bluetooth module.
I am using a gamepad while setting up the syncs in Cartes
I do notice that it sometimes happens while PHD2 is calibrating. I use the ST4 port and have PHD2 set so the mount type is "on camera". My thought was that maybe the calibration routine is interfering with EQMODs control of the mount and causing the freezes. The argument against this is that freezes have also happened at other times including when syncing.
Malcolm,
Sounds like you have a very similar set-up to mine....
I also use PHD2 etc.
I've haven't had EQMod freeze on me (touch wood) but may be it could be the laptop can't handle everything at once?
I do use a powered 6port USB hub....
I can have AA6/CdC/EQMod/PHD2 and three cameras on the go with no issues....
have you tried the shoestring usb cable instead of the bluetooth module?
you could check the windows event viewer to see if there are any errors logged when it freezes.
other thing would be to run eqmod in win 7 compatibility mode.
freezing is usually a sign of either an OS-app issue or comms issue. more likely comms.
Tried it with the USB cable rather than the Bluetooth tonight, and seemed to work OK. With drifting clouds it was not a strong a test as i would have liked but I think issue is solved!!
