The core of the Rosette

Was looking to get to the core of the Rosette this go round and its a really interesting area to look around in.

NGC2237 in SHO

There is an interesting abstract from a paper on this related to a study of the "Globulettes" in the area of which there are a few.

Normally I crop images with this RC scope and CCD set up to work around the inherent curvature but I would have lost the context and framing I was after so have left as is.

As MnT said, theres a plenty of Sii as well as Oiii so its great fun for SHO.

Very nice image David! Colours are very pleasing and detail quite good. Truth be told, I'd prefer a bit more vibrancy / brightness ... but that's just me!

Agree with Marcus that there's room to tweak the zero points (for all three channels separately), without any risk of data loss.

Yes colours and palette are really quite nice Dave and the details are great too, nice job and the field distortions aren't too bad......but they are not Globulettes......they are animals

Nice image David. The dark globules are really nice and sharp and there's lots of nice stuff going on in the bright bits. I agree with Marcus that a bit more saturation/brightness would go down well.

That's a deep and interesting photo David. Colours are a nice choice too. though I'd be interested to see a second one processed with Marcus' suggestions. Just curiousity really as this one is quite good as is.

Thanks for the feedback but I cant for the sake of me find the Vibrance process in PI. Whats a good way to give it the lift I think you are suggesting? Geoff, one for next weeks imaging meeting?

The reason for doing this really was to get the hound, donkey and leopard chasing each other across the frame. And as an added bonus though it looks like they are about to be swallowed by Peters mythical Fish

You could try the saturation option in curves. See the thumbnail. Maybe use a star mask to avoid blowing out the stars.

Looks pretty good to me David. I would suggest though playing around with local contrast a bit to make it "pop" better. I experimented and I think I improved it quite a bit.

Cheers Steve, I think that along with adjusting the blackpoint that a tweak on contrast as suggested has brought it out quite a bit. Have updated the version. Many thanks

Cheers Geoff. The star mask worked a treat. Tried the saturation but it just pushed the colour a bit far for me.

Wow lovely colours Dave you've managed to frame it very well given its large size and your F8 scope.

Hi Michael, glad you like them
I am going to leave the stars as is. It's not a big deal for me as the focus for me was the nebula. Just a personal thing.
