Connecting a Tak Collimating Scope

Hi guys
I am trying to work out what adaptors are needed to connect a Tak Collimating scope to a GSO RC.
Claude has given me some part numbers but his email says "may" rather than "definitely will" work.

Any suggestions?

Malcolm

If you look at this link from the Teleskop Express website it shows you which adaptors are required to fit a 2" focuser:

http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/...e-TCE0100.html

For 2" connection you need the both optional adapters 4ATDB0 und 5102A1.

I bought my Tak scope from them and the adaptors, and it works fine on my
RC08.

BTW if you buy them from Teleskop Express you can avoid the Euro VAT of 19%
as it will be exported to Australia. Current cost works out to 239 Euro or $371 AUD then add about $36 for shipping.

Malcolm, Paul Haese has one of these for his GSO RC and his collimation is as near as possible to spot on, so he can help you with the parts required.

This is all you need http://www.sciencecenter.net/hutech/.../html/7423.htm
Screws onto the tak scope and then the other end into a 2” T-2 adapter. Only $35 usd

Thanks guys. I think I have it sorted now. Just have to wait for the bits to show up and see if it works.

Cheers

The thread on the Tak Collimating scope is M36.4P1 male. There are very few off-the-shelf adapters that will mate with it. Vixen used to make some but they don't any more. The best option I found when I was looking a couple of years back is the Borg #7423 adapter mentioned above. Apart from that, Tak have an adapter with a a M36.4P1 female thread that is part of their usual 1.25" eyepiece set up for refractors.

If none of those options work then you're probably looking at a custom adapter. I'm sure that Precise Parts would make you one, but it would be expensive.

i already have 1 precise part connector being delivered and you are right, it is not a cheap option ! i also have the adapter to the 2" focuser, not sure what the connection is exactly, it looks like it is about 2.6" not the 2.7 AP i am looking for. really frustrating there are no industry standards with this stuff.

Funny how things go. I made one yesterday. I'm trying to collimate my DSI RC10C and needed, as Rick said, a M36.4P1 female for the Tak and a 2.7" 24 tpi male thread. I used a previously made M42P0.73 adapter hence the surplus thread in the image. I didn't bother with 'pretty' nor anodizing but it worked. Is that what you need or does the adapter need a female 2.7" thread?

For anyone looking to get an adapter I have had a few made by Precise Parts for connection my Tak collimation scope to any other appliance. Those are fairly cheap overall.
