Bintel to the rescue

I recently bought an ED100 and a focal reducer.
I set it all up and realised I had no way of connecting the camera or anything else to the back of the reducer. I hunted through all the rings and adapters I had and nothing worked.

After chasing online and getting rather confused as to which I needed. I thought I found the right one from a Chinese ebay site but was not sure and didn't want to wait a month to find out it was the wrong one.

I called BINTEL on Tuesday, Don answered and straight away knew which scope and adapter I was talking about. Yep got one here and I gave him my details. I was shocked to get a call from my wife yesterday to say a package had arrived. Tried it last night and fits perfectly.
Problem solved :-)

Great to get that sort of service and advice. It was also about the same price as the Chinese adapters I was looking at online. Now if only the clouds would part so I can put it all to use.

Big thank you to Bintel

Hi All,

I would like to second Bintel as a great place for advice and assistance. I dealt mainly with the Melbourne branch in which i got to know all the guys well. Sad to see them go.

They are always happy to provide advice and recommend somthing else which sometimes is actually cheaper. They were great when I purchased my orion dob. I hope the Sydney store is doing well and they come back to Melbourne

Sounds like one must ring them, they do not respond to emails, or at least to the ones I have sent.

Hi Exfso,

I have usually called and walked in for Bintel. Only emailed them twice which they responded the next day.

I would give them a call as you suggested.

Mel, I know what you mean, but isn't the email system supposed to be used as an alternative for phoning, it is not always convenient to phone a company. If they are not going to respond to emails, well in my opinion and I will probably get hammered for saying it, they have a problem that needs to be addressed.
I know that they are probably very busy, but at least an acknowledgement that they have received my email and something to the effect that my request is being looked at would certainly have sufficed, but to get absolutely no response is quite unacceptable. It is the sort of thing one expects from Microsoft or Telstra.

I too have found that Bintel do not like to respond to questions via email. Why display an email address on their website if they are not going to use it. Not everyone can use the phone.

Hi Exfso,

I agree with you, if Bintel didn't respond via any communications means then that is poor no matter the medium used. This holds true for any organisation.

My personal dealings have been pretty good and their they have always provided good advice and assistance for me. One of the major reasons i went with them and been a loyal customer to the deteriment of my bank balance

I hope they do get back to you.

Btw i don't work for Bintel. I do spend too much time yakking with the guys from the Melbourne store.

I'm confused Reichter, Bintel announced that they were closing the Melbourne branch well ahead of time; what is there to wonder at, or
be surprised about?

ah, I'm new, like 1 week into this new hobby. I wasn't aware of the pending closure of their Melbourne store. Plus I've just driven back to Melbourne from Sydney (moved here) so it's all new to me.

Got no issues with Bintel, but real reason for my post is:

BUMP!

Just to see this thread on the start page at the same time as the "No response from Bintel" one
