M-31 with ED80 + F 6.3 FR

Hi All,
While waiting for M45 to rise I had a go at M31 which is in a light polluted area over the Marina from my location, but as its a bright object at Mag.3.4 (so the book says) I tried, results herewith, not like some of the fantastic shots you see of this object, but not bad, included are ngc-205 the next brightest object (to the left) and then M32 above, this object (M31) is some 3 Deg. by 1 Deg. in size, so the ED80 sees 3 Deg. by 4 Deg. (approx.) using the Meade F-6.3 Focal reducer with it, I know this reducer is not made for a refractor, but as I happen to have one, ecomomy reigns.

6 x 5 Min. Exp. at ISO-400, DF removed, ED80+F 6.3 reducer, EOS300D-modded, guided w/LX200-10" + MX7C.

Has anyone else imaged this object with an ED80 ???, love to see some Pix..

cheers...................Jim

Good onya Jim. I've been hanging to have a go at M31 with the FR for a while but haven't managed it yet.

That vignetting is a bit of a pita.

Funny you should post this now and ask for other examples. I'm just about to post one I'd taken at Duckadang and forgotten about.

Nice shot Jim - the nice wide field gives you a feeling for the size of that bad-boy.....

M31-ed80

Hi All,
Thanks for the comments, and houghy I had a look at your M31-very good effort, great detail- as I said that nice dark Duckadang Sky helps, Paul- Nice picture lots of detail and colour good perspective, keep em coming.

As mentioned I took M31 while waiting for M45 to rise, and herewith the results when it finally came up, Im not happy with this picture and will try again, I find this object a difficult to get the colours right and bring out the nebulosity, maybe some kind of filter would help, any ideas out there.

4 x 5 Min. Exp. ISO400- DF removed, guided-ED80 + F-6.3 Focal Recducer- EOS300D (modded).

cheers....Jim
