The full sky at 26 deg south

This is the result of using a full spectrum 6D with a 35mm sigma lens to construct a mosaic of the entire sky as visible at 26s (SE QLD). It was done about 2 years ago.

This is something that I have never properly completed. Didn't calibrate using flats. Just an approximate lens correction in photoshop for each panel. There are about 100 panels that make up this full 360x180 panorama. To be serious, this will require way more work. Just wish I took flats back then :/

The cool thing I thought was the zodiacal light across the sky, that shows up in a horizontal 's' shape against the plane of the Milky Way.

Here it is on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/130830...posted-public/

Brilliant work Troy, very enjoyable to view, any perceived technical faults are superfluous. A mammoth task indeed that very few have ever tried before, you are amongst an elite bunch for sure

Although the word is heavily overused these days, this should be in the dictionary next to the word 'epic'.
Brilliantly conceived and extremely well executed.
Cheers,
Andrew

Eoic indeed, grand in scale and impact.
Would be great to see presented super sized in a gallery as an installation.

Also, that's the first time I've seen that technique used so well on Flickr (which I personally dislike as as a photo sharing site).

Congratulations on your perseverance and execution

That's sensational work. I don't think I have ever seen a 100 panel mosaic before! The FLICKR show is excellent with a 360 view.

Also have never seen the spiral S like spiral looking dust/structure coming out of Sagittarius and over Orion before. Almost looks like another faint arm of the Milky Way or a Galactic loop of some sort??

Great stuff mate.

John K.

Brilliant Troy!
Really like your work. What were your exposures for each panel, if you'd like to share?
