Barnard 33

Taken on the one clear night that seems to have blessed Sydneysiders prior to the great flood......i.e. ...most of the New Year... the likes of which was only exceeded when Noah was in the Sydney-Hobart.

Cropped, and presented at about 2/3rd's res (sorry Marcus). AO-X guided at just under 1 second intervals (hardly worth it really).

Pretty much nailed the RC16 corrector spacing, which is still out by 2-3 mm, but another Precise Parts adapter just couldn't make it into my post-Christmas budget.

Work and weather makes me wonder whether I'll get more data (e.g. colour ) this "horsey" season.

The link is here

Hope you like horses

Hi, Peter,

I really like the ultra-high contrast interpretation. Brings it to life. I also notice that the three Herbig-Haro objects (and perhaps a fourth that Dr Malin didn't find because it was burned out in his original image) are all visible toward the bottom left.

Best,
Mike

Thank you Mike. The (small) data set was plagued by satellite trails and an arriving jet's navigation light...which PS6's healing brush kindly removed near the Herbig objects.

I suspect I'll wade-out to the observatory soon enough to at least get some more H-alpha to tidy things up a bit

Ta Greg. Suffice to say I've looked at my earlier RCOS rendering of this object and am blown away by just how tight the new scope is in comparison...just wish I had more opportunities to collect more data with it.

Thanks...have to say I'm pretty chuffed with the resolution: as Fred likes to say, you simply can't get this as a "wide-field wuss"

Cool shot Peter. Rastafarian horse for sure. Heaps of intricate details. Looking forward to the finished product. You must be stoked.

yep, super resolution alright, particularly around the horsehead itself - the clarity of the little horn demonstrates this (should it be called the young unicorn head's nebula?) -it barely shows on my recent (average HH attempt although my setup is still working through issues)..
also like the contrasty look.

cheers

Forgiven - I see the noise. You should have blended in a little Lum.

Nup, no chance the weather will cooperate. 200mm rain in total here since beginning January and cloudy most nights. The Sky is clearing now that the moon is >70% illuminated. I don't have to worry about work any more though

As I'm currently north of the equator...hence no chance indeed ! ....that said...maybe the end of the month will allow a tad more during my down time.

Given it wasn't a small investment, I have to say I'm very pleased with the Alluna's performance. Lack of data has meant no de-con has been applied to date, but the future possibilities have me intrigued

That's is the sort of detailing I was looking for in the darker areas. The horse detail is also very good, though not unexpected at all. Waiting to see what you come up with in your final image should you get the data collected.

Ta. I'm tempted to start again & see how it goes at F5.2 with the Alluna AFFR...as after having been away from Sydney for a week...it seems all I've missed is yet more rain/floods/electrical storms making me wonder if I need a new hobby
