First go at the Witches Head Nebula

After the battery eliminator for my modified 300D failed, I needed a target in Orion that didn't need the Ha response that most of the good stuff around Orion needs. So I decided to try a more difficult target - the Witches Head. This is 2 hours of 10 minute subs at ISO 1600. I would have loved another night collecting data for this but alas, the last night was to poor to help with this subject. Taken at Wiruna Dark Sky site on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Cheers,
Bruce.

witch head nebula

That's Great Bruce. I actually think that is a better shot than my own with nearly 11 hours at ISO 800 on a cooled 60Da. That was taken in Hobart burbs and LP is noticeable. Good one !!!

Thanks Graham, I'm still using the Mead DSI you sold me. It makes a superb guide camera!

That's really beautiful Bruce, lovely pastel colours, you also have a galaxy in there, which sets it off.

Cheers

Thanks Bill, yes there are a few little galaxies in the area above the witches' forehead. It's great to get out to a dark sky site occasionally as it does allow one to attempt some really dim targets.
Bruce.
