Avian Retreat

Resident Thickknees (SP) or Stone bush curlew are a shy bird with huge eyes and a strident night call. For the past few years we've had a pair nesting in our garden and they seem quite used to us now as we don't bother them or intrude - they allow us to pass within feet of them in the car and we leave their bit of garden natural so they can't easily be seen.
They lost their chicks in November and renested, now they have a new pair of fledglings and they are growing rapidly. The Cockatoos are quite tame too and come to the window and look us in the eye for their Seed lunch

Nice work Jennifer. What a privilege to have them nest in your garden.

Cheers Reverend.
