NGC2359 with colourful gradient

Gooday,

I'm on night shift at the moment and I only have Wednesday and Saturday nights free. This last Wednesday happened to coincide with a beautiful clear night.
Not knowing where to find Thors Helmet, I did a precise 2 star alignment on the EQ6 and then relied on its Goto accuracy. As you can in the widefield shot its a bit off centre.
We have 24 five minute subs, 11 t-shirt dawn flats, darks and bias applied.

Don't know where the gradient came from but the last sub was at 3-50 am so maybe approaching dawn could be the culprit.

My stars look like eggs but PHD reported 1.4 arcsec RMS, so i must be flex somewhere.

Thanks for looking
Bill

not bad Bill, you could try and make an artificial flat to remove the gradient or maybe digging through the later subs to see if dawn was interfering - then re-stacking.

might be worth taking some one-off binned shots before beginning the imaging run, to centre / orientate the target. but some nice detail in there, I think it is a really cool object.

cheers

russ

Thanks for your encouragement Russell, yes, next time I'll know where to put that bright orange star at the bottom.

As a matter of interest I re-stacked them with no flats and only used a defect map for a quickie.

Regards

Bill
