Jupiter December 29th 2015

Hi all

I've attached a few images of Jupiter taken this morning with a C14 @ about 7500mm FL and an ASI120MM camera. Data was stacked with Autostakkert2! and derotated with WinJupos for the RGB pic.

Time was centered around 5:07amLT for the RGB, 5:05am for the Red image, & 5:18 for the IR. Approximately 1500 frames/channel.

At Jupiter's low 44 degree altitude, the smear in the red channel is about 0.25", but in the blue its a whopping 0.85" because of atmospheric dispersion. No wonder the blue channel looks bad!
Eagerly awaiting a new ZWO ADC to counteract the effect...

Best wishes

Maurice

Hi Maurice,

Great to see you are imaging. I was imaging at the same time and found the seeing only fair so you achieved some impressive results.

I look forward the seeing the benefits of the ZWO ADC.

Best regards,
Mark

Thanks Mark. I've just noticed that the time on the imaging PC was out by about 7min... All images should be 7min earlier than the time shown.

Had a bit more luck with the weather this morning & got one of Mars too... in the next thread...

cheers
Maurice
