Sculptor Galaxy (NGC 253)

A personal best and very happy with the result. I think I'm finally getting the hang of this ...just need to take more subs!

This is also my first image that has picked up distant background galaxies . The faint fuzzies are visible in the main image, however after converting to a negative B&W they stand out a little better. I'd love to know the name/distance to any of them?? I ran a quick internet search to no avail.

8" LX200 at F/6.3
x2 600sec @ ISO 800

Hope to convert to 3D soon, along with some other DSOs I'm working on. The immense size of the universe never ceases to amaze me. Can't wait to try for an Abell cluster in the years ahead!
Thanks for looking, Cheers.

For just two 10 min subs, it's looking good!

Thanks Pat, yeah the sky glow is pretty minimal here, probably thanks to Gunnedah only having a population of 10,000. RE: the smudge spot - you're spot on! I got carried away with the layer masks and ended up convincing myself it was a tidal tail . After you stare at a image for a prolonged period of time nothing seems to make sense . I'll need to go back and correct that.

Thanks Colin, I might try adding some more subs again later.

Cheers,

very good image with many details. We can perceive very well the center of galaxy as center of galaxy. I did many times that target, but the center weren't so resolved as center. Congratulations !
