Daughter & Significant Other discover the Sky

Our Daughter and her Significant Other (SO) came over for a BBQ and some star gazing. As I have gained some proficiency with the Meade LX90 I have become very, very impressed not only with the ease of use of the LX90 but the incredible accuracy of the Meade LX90.
I had set the scope before my Daughter and her SO arrived. I setup in the day so obviously I needed to align the scope. The LX90 takes only moments to correctly align two stars, the second star will typically be very close to the centre of the eyepiece.
Her SO is an Engineer, a man who appreciates accuracy and tech, his was stunned. He was, even more, stunned as I slew the scope from the Jewel Box and back across to the Moon. The time this entailed a slew from the Southern area of the sky across to the Northern portion of the sky. Not only was the slew accurate I finished at the Terminator! Later on, we slew from M47 back to the Moon and again there is was right on the terminator!
Using the "Tour" feature and "Tonights Best" function we enjoyed a guided view of the best celestial features of the night sky. This may sound almost unbelievable but I don't remember once having to adjust the target once the LX90 had finished its slew.
The three of us enjoyed hours of high-quality viewing, without a single hiccup. Time flew by for the three of us as new and exciting features were targeted for us by the LX90.
My Daughter's SO, couldn't believe the accuracy of the mount.
The experience for all of us was very, very rewarding. I guess this in many ways entirely justifies the time and money expended on the scope and the peripherals on the scope.
The extraordinary accuracy of the mount made the viewing a 100% pleasure. I know they are both very keen to repeat the night though with the Moon getting fuller I think we may have to wait until we are in a new phase.
The three of us were very caught up in the simple pleasure of visual astronomy. Now with all the little bugs and tricks worked out, the LX90 presents unrivaled freedom and extraordinarily rewarded and pleasurable view on the night sky. The accuracy of the LX90 is extraordinary and it really delivers a level of freedom in traversing the sky that I didn't believe was possible in entry-mid level goto mount.

That's similar to my experience with a Celestron C8 gem goto. My first goto and the C8 has given the best views of any telescope I have owned - all were 150mm or smaller.

This has really increased my enjoyment of astronomy. I don't think I need to change or upgrade any equipment for quite a while although I do have an astro video camera coming soon

Well done. I'm a little jealous. Having a 114mm skywatcher with manual adjustment wears pretty thin after a while.
Getting married and a home reno have put the brakes on getting anything better for a year or two. So meteor shower study is my next project.

Good to see you getting on well with someone who may well end up joining the family too, and sharing an interest like this.
