M42 Single shot

this is one of my first attempts at M42 from last year
Single 13 sec exposure ISO 6400
f5 Sky-Watcher 6inch Newt
EQ-3 w/ Motor Drive
Canon EOS 550D Processed RAW in Lr and Ps

That's a good start, Adam! M42 is actually a pretty difficult object.

Hi Adam,

That's a great first shot . You've achieved good dynamic range across the image and the core isn't overexposed, I like that.

For your next attempt you could rotate the camera, reframe, and you might be able to squeeze NGC 1977 in as well (Running Man Nebula)

Thanks RickS and Evan I managed this dodgy attempt with bad PA around the same time but I'm very keen to have a crack with my 8inch this summer with much rounder stars..
