Fellow IISer Oleg sent me this picture from his workplace of both the Canberra AND the Adelaide arriving at Garden Island. Big suckers...

Wouldn't it be nice if we had shiny new F35s to park on the deck.

F35 is an absolute piece of junk. Recent fly-offs against the F16 it is supposed to replace show a markedly inferior aircraft.

Basically, the aeroplane is an expensive dud that seems almost unfixable.

And yet, because of our unswerving alliance to the USA, we don't have the conviction or intellect cancel.

I spotted the Adelaide (L01) and Canberra (L02) from Vaucluse towering over the buildings of Garden Island. The first pic below shows them from the vantage point I had.

My family treated me with a trip to Lady Macquarie's Chair and Harry's Cafe de Wheels, where I was able to get some more shots. The stern loading doors of the two ships were also open, allowing for a glimpse into the cavernous interior.

From Harry's, the recently decommissioned Tobruk was berthed just behind the two carriers. The old and the new landing craft in the one shot.

Man, they ARE big suckers,
