Very puzzeled

I have a neq6 mount and when I connect it to my laptop with the rs232 to usb cable directly to the laptop there are no problems, but when the connection goes through a usb hub it will not work. I've used 3 different hubs, 2 have been powered, so it isn't the hub. Any ideas why? Anything would be a help. The cable is a hitecastro.

Have you checked the Port assignment ?
Windows might be reassigning which port you are connecting the mount to and the software needs to be reconfigured for that different port.

I think it may need a dedicated port rather than an IRQ that is functioned through a hub.

I don't have this problem. I connect my NEQ6 Pro via the hub on my SX674 camera and don't have any obvious problems. It connects first time, every time and I get no drop-outs.

However, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to be honest and I wonder if it could contribute to poor guiding. Could be silly, but I know how flaky comms can be over USB after trying to use my QHY-5LII over the same hub.

Maybe someone more hardware-savvy could chime in here...

Simon,

What is the serial port number and what are the serial port settings you see when you use it both direct and through a hub ?
What OS are you using ? If its an early version are the USB/RS232 adapter drivers installed for each port in use ?

Do you know what chipset is in the USB/serial adapter and in the USB Hub ? - eg Prolific, FTDI - could be some sort of incompatibility.

I would be inclined to delete it via Device Manager and reinstall it and see if that makes a difference.
Then maybe update to latest version of drivers just in case something is broken.
