OK, tonight's the night

Absolutely beautiful night in Newcastle tonight.

No moon, no clouds, no wind, no work tomorrow.

Polar alignment is good, collimation is good, guiding is good, scope has cooled down, targets for the night have been chosen.

Lappy came back from being repaired today and was given the all clear.

What could possibly go wrong?

The freak system missed me ... phew, that was close. Nope, just clear skies.

Thanks Dave. I was a really nice night. I managed to collect about 6hrs of data as well as darks at the end. Can't wait to get it processed.

It's nights like that that make it all worthwhile.

I thought I could play the passing clouds last night. Set up, looked reasonable, atmosphere was clean thanks to the recent rains.

No sooner had the final guiding tweaks been finished that I looked again at the BOM radar, and saw red. Then I saw the blanket. RAPID tear down...within minutes of covering the mount it hammered down (but it only lasted 2 minutes!). It continued light rain for the rest of the night.

Ah well... there is always another night.
