EQ6 GoTo sun

Hi all (I have searched this & other forums, before posting...!)

On my C6, the hand-controller default settings could be changed so as enable GoTo & pointing at the sun.

I can't find a similar set-up feature on the NEQ6pro (SynScan hand-controller, running v. 3.27).

The sun does not appear in any object catalogues (including solar system).

Any clues?

Cheers!

Dean

Gday Dean

I dont think it has that option.
I just start my unit, select tracking rate solar, then manually slew to the sun. That way i dont need any setup data either.

I believe it's a safety feature to prevent the inexperienced from accidentally slewing the scope towards the sun.

Thanks for your speedy replies Larry & Andrew!

At least I can now stop searching for how to do it.

My guess would be some issue with legal liability: if you manually point at the sun (with no solar filter) and evaporate an eyeball, that's your dumb fault.

If the mount takes you there by GoTo & the same thing happens, then SW may incur some degree of legal liability or culpability.

A shame - instead I'll continue doing a Mercury GoTo (to get close) + manually slew the last bit.

Cheers!
