NGC5367 - Snot Monster

I'm sure this has a real name too, but after a few beers at Astrofest we just came up with names for things. So gentlemen I present to you my rendition of the Snot Monster

QHY10 + Meade ED80
4.5h with a mix of 10min and 5min subs

I had to crop rather tightly on it as I had a strange rainbow effect appear in some of my Astrofest pictures and it was visible at the edges of frames.

That's also known as CG12. It's a cometary globule and is one of my favourites. Beautifully done.

Due to passing clouds, I had incomplete imaging runs on that one. Never got all the colour runs done

Seems to be a very difficult target, yon Snot Monster. Pearls and rubies, and topazes too. Beautiful star colours, and a tiny edge-on spiral.

This is one of my favourite objects in the night sky. It is in my top ten list. I tried imaging this a couple of years back based on the view I had from Tom Davis.

I found it to be incredibly hard with short subs. Your image has good colour and appears quite smooth. Well done on this image.

Thanks guys. And yes Paul I agree, not the easiest object to shoot. It was actually unknown to me until Troy started shooting it. And when I started I was getting nothing but garbage until Geoff came and said I needed at least 10min subs to do it justice.
