Welcome to our friendly mob. This site is growing very quickly, and I think you will find everyone here is very helpful, and a great sense of humor to boot.

How come I have to take the blame.

There is over 100 members to say G'day. I only start a welcome thread when I see a new name at the top of the main page and no-one else has started a welcome for them.

I'm going to go and sulk now,

Hi team,

Many thanks for the big welcome. I have enjoyed accessing the site as a guest and I thought I had better join up and add my 2 cents worth from time to time.

Ving, A stringscope is a truss tube design using bowstring or aircraft grade stainless steel cable and tensioning rods in place of the usual truss tubes.

I currently have a "spare" 8" F6 mirror and I have 50% completed a string truss scope to go with it. My reason for using this concept is that one of my design criteria was that the entire scope including all accessories, star atlas and full dew heaters had to fit into a carry case 350mm X 350mm X 500mm. I thought I would have a go with this concept and if I like it, use it for my next project.

The attached links will give you the idea (I have copied these across, I have no idea if they will work as a link or not).

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian (stringscope)

Welcome to the forum, it's great to have some lurkers starting to register and introduce themselves (with the help of a welcome thread )

How did you hear about us?

Also don't forget the "post a pic of yourelf" and "post a pic of your rig" threads, it's a great way for us to get to know you.

There's a few canberrians signing up lately, and we also welcome more If you'd like, there's the IceInSpace pamphlet available for download from the files section to print out and take to your CAS or other observing meetings, to spread the word about the site and forums.

Thanks and hope to see you back often!
