Corona Australis 8 Panel Mosaic - Repro attached

G'day everyone. This has been a mission and a half.
8 Panels consisting of 30 x 300sec + 30 x 600sec frames per panel. Captured over several nights during July and August with the gear in my signature. That makes this my largest ever data set, with 7.5hrs per panel and 60hrs total. Seeing has been crappy up here this year so I know this is far from perfect, but it is the best I can come up with using current knowledge and Data.

Large version is here: http://www.astrobin.com/full/205432/0/ Be warned it is large, about 30M.

Edit: I reduced the size for better viewing after realising what Paul mentioned below. On my screen I did not have to scroll as it is square not the normal 16:9. Anyway new not so large version here:http://www.astrobin.com/full/205432/C/

Advice and critique well received. Thanks for looking.

That's epic! May just need to tweak the colour balance? Looks a little green? But that on my iPhone (not calibrated).

That is definately an epic challenge. I concur the background does look a little green. Maybe drop that a little. Still a wonderful seem less image. Great work.

That's sub zero cool Rex! Awesome vista. The high res is superb. So much details and stuff to peer through. As it's been said, epic mural! To the cool wall.

I prefer the first presentation in Astrobin. The full res is ok but too big to really enjoy the vista. Dust has a nice look and colour to it. The field of view is great and I cannot see a panel join in the entire image. Star colours are nice and pastel.

Everything looks good except I think there might be a little too much cyan in your back ground.

Overall I like the image.

Wow!...8 panel mosaic huh? Excellent work Rex, very enjoyable image with nice processing overall, you could perhaps just reduce the green/cyan in the background but great stuff

And not a decon dot or bright wavelet worm in sight

Mike

Thanks Troy, for the feedback and comment. Unfortunately at the moment I am using a crappy old 1280x1024 res not calibrated monitor as that is all I have. Hopefully next month will be getting a 28"UHD, hopefully that will solve my ongoing colour issues. lol.

Thanks Marc, few small issues to sort out then I will probably print this one.

Thanks Scotty, I have never worked so hard to produce something I was happy with. This image was a slog, but I am reasonably happy with it so worth it in the end.

Thanks Paul, I'm not sure what you mean about the first presentation in astrobin, I have only put one version up there as yet. Unless you mean the version that first appears when you click the link and not the full version when you click the little icon at the top? WOW sorry thinking out loud again..... Thanks again for the comments and feedback, I will definately be revisiting the colour of this one.

Thank you kind sir. Yep colour is a problem, will revisit before I print it. With the sharpening I am a little like you in the respect of not liking the artifacts it can produce. I have overdone it in the past but these days I start low and keep gradually winding it up until I see the first hint and then wind it back one step. Not sure if that's the best way or if there is something I am doing wrong, but I can never seem to get more than about 10 iterations before that point is reached, with either decon or wavelets sharpening.

I don't see anything there which is "far from perfect"

Quite the opposite.

That image blew my mind. What an incredible effort.

Awesome work, Rex! I know just how difficult mosaics are and this is superb!

This will be one of my targets for next year. I have one panel done.

Thanks H. Mate I can't wait to see your mosaic. With the seeing you get and your gear and expertise it will be a cracker.

Thanks very much Graham. Mate I use Pixinsight for everything from calibration, stacking and final processing as it is the only image software I have. It has some pretty good tools for stitching together mosaics once you work out the process, and how to get around certain problems that invariably crop up when stitching. But there are enough tutorials on the web that you can normally manipulate one of the procedures to suit the current circumstance.

Man that is a LOT of effort to get 8 panels looking that good in a mosaic. Hats off to you Rex. Great picture and suspect you may coax a bit more out of it in future years when the urge to do a Sidonio (repro) sets in!
