10" LDX55 Schmidt Newtonian

Hi all,

I have a 10” Schmidt Newtonian on an LXD55 mount for sale.

New to the hobby, my nephew recently acquired the scope, but it’s too big for him at this stage, so I’ve suggested a smaller and easier set-up to start with.

The scope and mount look to be complete, with the exception that the Hand Controller is missing.

With the help of a fellow IIS’er and his hand controller (thanks Bo), we recently fired up the mount and both motors work, although a good strip down and regrease is likely required as I don’t think the scope has been used for a long period of time.

The optics and tube appear to be in very good condition.

The original rings are included, but an aftermarket dovetail has been installed as the original was broken (included).

The original boxes are also included.

I would prefer a local buyer so the scope can be inspected, but I can’t run the scope as I don’t have the hand controller.

Further pictures available to interested parties.

I'm aware that these SN10's are a bit of a collector's item, but I'm not certain of it's value. Genuine reasonable offers welcome.

Thanks for looking.
Paul

Just to add to what Paul said I tested the mount and yes all motors work.
As for getting an autostar controller you best bet is cloudy nights classifieds where they can be had for $50-80 U.S. Depending on model and condition

Also interested in the scope if you're willing to split.

Hi all,

thanks for the many PM's and posts.

I'm not really interested in splitting the OTA and mount, as I need to move both on and the OTA will get 99% of the interest.

Further to Bo's comments, yes the controllers can be purchased separately, I just never got around to it, and I have too many other scopes to spend my time with

Given it's a fast 10" f4 Schmidt-Newtonian, I'm not going to give it away, but I need to move it on.

The IIS classifieds show an 8" version sold here a few months back. Admittedly that had a hand controller and a few other bits, but it was only an 8" against the 10" I have listed here. Using that as a basis, I'll start at the same price of $800 pick-up.

If somebody wants it's shipped, they'll have to organise and cover costs.

Thanks,
Paul

Matt.
I have a LXD55 and use the same 497 hand controller on both the LXD55 and the ETX125 that I have. Not all model Meade controllers work on the LXD55. The more basic 494 model won't work on my LXD55.
Regards,
Jeff

Smile hand controller

Hi again Jeff, might be interested in this scope if I could locate the appropriate hand controller, have done a few online searches but I can't find a 497 for sale (new or secondhand), any suggestions on this? Cheers Matt

Hi Matt
The new version of the 497 controller is called the Audiostar and it's advertised as being compatible with anything that used the 497 controller. See here http://www.optcorp.com/meade-audiost...ler-07640.html
