Lagoon in Ha starless

Well, this will be the last photo for a while as I install the pier in my observatory. Scope and mount all dismantled. Anyway it's cloudy!

15 minute subs, about 6 hours worth. Full suite of calibration applied. Stars removed with Straton. It seemed to do something odd with the core, but never mind. There are parameters in there to tweak.

Any criticism welcomed.

Thanks for looking

DJ Scotty

Hi Scott,

That is a fine starless image of the Lagoon. (Although I personally do not like starless images...).

Maybe black point needs to be more carefully adjusted on the histogram and the core seems to be saturated...Perhaps you could try different functions in Fits Liberator for stretching (the easiest option)? Otherwise HDR /masked stretch could be helpful in processing of this nebula.

Hey, I like that ..very arty and compelling, cool ...well executed too, starless shots often look spotty and granular but this is pretty smooth.

Thanks Slawomir. I actually did a feathered mask of some 5 minute subs for the core. Straton stuffed the core in this rendition when I removed the stars. The version with stars has a very nice core. have to play with the settings in Straton...

EDIT: Just uploaded the starry image. You can see the core is far better presereved
