E-bay brass scopes

I noticed that there are a large number of antique looking brass telescopes on E-bay. This looked pretty dodgy to me, due to the quantity and the fact that the tripods look identical to a cheap 60 mm refractor tripod.
I looked up "E-bay brass telescope" on Google and got this page:
http://www.antiquetelescopes.org/fakes.html

Now I know that most people here wouldn't even think about buying these telescopes, so the reason I'm putting this link up is to help the page stay near the top of the Google rankings.

That is actually a handy site. Those of us that are into scopes in a big way could get caught.

They actually do look good! Easy to get caught.

I saw a real antique brass scope in a 2nd hand shop in Daylesford a couple of years ago, about 2 foot long. It had a price tag of $1500. It was genuine!
